Community, Compassion, and Impact: Highlights from Splash of Sparkle

The room was filled with laughter, celebration, and a shared spirit of giving on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as community members gathered at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, NJ for the second annual Splash of Sparkle benefit. Hosted by the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary, this elegant spring brunch brought together supporters, healthcare professionals, and community leaders for a truly meaningful afternoon.

Hunterdon Hematology Oncology (HHO) was proud to once again sponsor and attend this inspiring event, joining so many generous guests in support of a cause that touches countless lives throughout Hunterdon County.

A Celebration of Community and Compassion

Guests arrived ready to toast the season and support an important mission. The beautiful setting of Fiddler’s Elbow provided the perfect backdrop for a lively brunch filled with conversation, entertainment, and philanthropy.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed lively entertainment, social connections, and opportunities to give through the event’s cash call, supporting critical healthcare initiatives. The energy in the room reflected the power of community coming together for a shared purpose — supporting life-saving healthcare services close to home.

Supporting a Critical Lifeline: The Mobile Intensive Care Unit

The Splash of Sparkle event proudly benefited Hunterdon Health’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) — a vital emergency service delivering advanced medical care to patients across the region before they even arrive at the hospital.

Staffed by highly trained Advanced Life Support paramedics and equipped with sophisticated medical technology, MICU teams respond to some of the most serious emergencies, including cardiac events, strokes, and severe trauma. These specialized units work in close communication with physicians at Hunterdon Medical Center, effectively extending the reach of the Emergency Department into homes, roadways, and communities across Hunterdon County.

This year’s fundraising efforts focused on the prehospital blood administration initiative, an important advancement that allows paramedics to administer blood to patients in the field before they reach the Emergency Department. Early blood transfusion can significantly improve outcomes for trauma patients experiencing severe blood loss.

Funds raised from Splash of Sparkle will help provide essential equipment needed to support this initiative, including specialized fluid warmers and medical-grade coolers that ensure blood products can be safely stored and administered during emergency response.

A Meaningful Impact for Our Community

Events like Splash of Sparkle demonstrate how powerful community support can be when it comes to advancing healthcare. By gathering for this elegant brunch, guests helped ensure that Hunterdon Health’s emergency response teams have the tools and resources necessary to respond during life’s most critical moments.

For the HHO team, supporting initiatives like the MICU reflects our deep commitment to strengthening the healthcare system that serves our patients, families, and neighbors every day.

Thank You for Making a Difference

Hunterdon Hematology Oncology extends heartfelt thanks to the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary, the event organizers, sponsors, and every guest who attended and contributed to the success of Splash of Sparkle.

Your generosity helps support the dedicated professionals of the Mobile Intensive Care Unit, empowering them to provide life-saving care when and where it is needed most.

We are grateful to be part of such a compassionate and engaged community — and we look forward to celebrating together again next spring.

Hunterdon Health’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit: The Life-Saving Focus of Splash of Sparkle 2026

This year’s Splash of Sparkle is about more than an elegant Sunday brunch — it’s about saving lives.

Hosted by the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary, the Splash of Sparkle benefit will directly support the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of Hunterdon Health and its critical prehospital blood administration initiative. At Hunterdon Hematology Oncology (HHO), we are proud to sponsor and attend this meaningful event, knowing the powerful impact it will have across our community.

The Mobile Intensive Care Unit: An Extension of the Emergency Room

Hunterdon Health’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides high-quality prehospital emergency medicine throughout Hunterdon County. These specialized ambulances are staffed by Hunterdon Medical Center’s most highly trained Advanced Life Support paramedics and equipped with sophisticated technology to treat:

  • Cardiac emergencies
  • Stroke patients
  • Victims of severe trauma
  • Other life-threatening conditions

In New Jersey, a MICU is automatically dispatched based on the medical or traumatic complaint reported to 9-1-1. EMTs providing Basic Life Support can also request a MICU when a patient’s condition becomes critical.

Hunterdon Health operates four MICU units, strategically located in Raritan Township, Glen Gardner, Lambertville, and Lopatcong Township. These units complement the care provided by local first aid squads and fire departments and function as a direct extension of the Emergency Department at Hunterdon Medical Center. Through real-time voice communication with ER physicians, MICU teams assess, stabilize, and treat patients wherever care is needed — at home, on the roadside, or en route to the hospital.

Simply put: They bring the emergency room to the patient.

The 2026 Focus: Prehospital Blood Administration Initiative

This year, funds raised at Splash of Sparkle will support a groundbreaking and life-saving initiative — prehospital blood administration.

This initiative allows MICU teams to deliver blood transfusions to patients before they reach the Emergency Department. In severe trauma cases, blood loss is often the most immediate and life-threatening factor. Early blood administration can dramatically improve survival rates.

To safely deliver blood in the field, two essential pieces of equipment are needed:

  • Specialized fluid warmers to ensure blood is warmed to the proper temperature for safe transfusion
  • Medical-grade coolers to properly store and preserve blood products during transport

With community support, Splash of Sparkle will help fund the purchase of these critical devices — empowering paramedics to intervene sooner and save more lives.

This initiative represents innovation, preparedness, and a deep commitment to advancing emergency medicine in Hunterdon County.
