This event promises to be an invaluable experience for anyone touched by cancer, offering practical tools and techniques to enhance your quality of life through meditation.

The Healing Power of Meditation

Meditation has long been celebrated for its positive impact on mental and physical health, particularly in the context of oncology care. Research and anecdotal evidence alike underscore its effectiveness in relieving stress, improving sleep quality, and reducing anxiety—crucial factors that can influence the cancer healing process. Our upcoming event is specifically designed to introduce participants to the calming and restorative practices of meditation, including breath work, guided meditation, and a simple Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise. These techniques are simple yet powerful, accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience with meditation.

Why Meditation Matters for Oncology Patients

For individuals facing cancer, the journey can be fraught with uncertainty, fear, and stress. Meditation offers a sanctuary, a moment of stillness, and a technique to regain control over one’s emotional and physical state. It’s not just about finding peace in the present; it’s about equipping oneself with the resilience to face the challenges ahead. This event is a unique opportunity to explore how meditation can complement traditional cancer treatments, providing a holistic approach to health and well-being.

Making a Difference Together: Remembering Henry Scott Oldenburg’s Legacy

At Hunterdon Hematology Oncology (HHO), our mission is to provide exceptional care and support to our patients and their families as they navigate the challenging journey of cancer treatment. We are dedicated to not only fighting cancer within our community but also across the region, offering a beacon of hope and healing. It’s in this spirit of community and support that we are profoundly grateful for the generosity and partnership of an extraordinary organization, Remembering Henry Scott Oldenburg (R.H.S.O).

The Foundation of Generosity

R.H.S.O was established in 2008, in loving memory of Scott Oldenburg, a valiant police lieutenant, devoted father, husband, son, uncle, and friend. Scott’s battle with pancreatic cancer ended, but his legacy of kindness and the desire to “pay it forward” lives on through R.H.S.O. This nonprofit organization embodies Scott’s wish by dedicating itself to fundraising efforts throughout the year, aiming to extend the same compassionate support Scott received to others facing similar battles.

How R.H.S.O Makes a Difference

Through a series of volunteer-based events, ranging from the New Jersey Festival of Ballooning to an annual 5k run, R.H.S.O raises funds without incurring costs on advertising or administration. This efficient approach ensures that every dollar raised goes directly towards their mission of supporting those in need. Their dedicated group of family, friends, and volunteers forms the backbone of the organization, enabling them to surpass their goals year after year.

A Beacon of Hope for HHO Patients

For several years, R.H.S.O has been a steadfast supporter of Hunterdon Hematology Oncology and the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, donating significant funds to assist our patients directly. These donations have been instrumental in covering copayments and providing transportation assistance, removing some of the financial burdens our patients face. This support is more than just financial; it’s a message of solidarity, showing our patients they are not alone in their fight.

More Than Just Money

As Remembering Henry Scott Oldenburg rightly points out, their contributions are “much more than a dollar amount.” They offer unyielding, faithful support during trying times, embodying the spirit of community and compassion. While they support a wide range of causes, from pancreatic cancer research to aiding families dealing with pediatric disorders, their impact on our HHO patients has been profound.

Join the Family

The success of R.H.S.O and their ability to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer and other hardships is a testament to the power of community and volunteerism. Their open invitation to anyone interested in joining their supportive “family” is an opportunity to contribute to a cause that changes lives, honors a remarkable legacy, and strengthens our community.

How to Get Involved

For more information about Remembering Henry Scott Oldenburg and how you can get involved in their remarkable efforts, please visit www.rhsoldenburg.org. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer and honor the memory of Scott Oldenburg by paying it forward.

At Hunterdon Hematology Oncology, we are immensely thankful for the ongoing support from R.H.S.O. Their contributions have not only provided financial relief but have also brought hope and comfort to many. As we continue our mission to fight cancer, we are proud to do so alongside partners like R.H.S.O, who share our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
