Community, Connection, and Care: Highlights from our 2025 Cancer Survivorship Event

On June 12, 2025, Hunterdon Hematology Oncology and the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center proudly welcomed cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to the Cancer Survivorship Health Fair—an uplifting evening dedicated to education, healing, and celebration. Held at the Hunterdon Medical Center, this free community event was a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity, support, and resilience.

From the moment attendees entered the event, there was a palpable sense of hope and connection. This year’s health fair, an evolution from our last survivorship event, expanded its offerings and drew more participants from our community—each touched by cancer in their own unique way.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners

We extend our sincere gratitude to the community organizations that partnered with us to make this event such a meaningful success:

Your passion, presence, and resources helped ensure that attendees walked away not only informed, but empowered. Your support reflects the shared commitment we all hold to improving quality of life for those affected by cancer.

Event Highlights

Throughout the evening, guests explored a wide array of wellness stations and support services designed to meet the needs of survivors and those in active treatment.

Cancer Support & Prevention Resources

Attendees had the opportunity to speak with professionals about cancer risk reduction, early detection, and family history-based prevention strategies. Educational materials and one-on-one conversations made these topics approachable and actionable.

Oncology Nutrition & Wellness Guidance

Experts shared practical dietary tips tailored to cancer patients and survivors, emphasizing the role of food in healing, recovery, and energy support.

Smoking Cessation & Mental Health Resources

Behavioral health specialists provided support strategies for quitting smoking, reducing anxiety, and managing the emotional aspects of a cancer diagnosis and treatment journey.

Family Risk Assessment & Education

Guests learned more about assessing their hereditary cancer risk and how early screenings can help protect family members. These critical conversations empowered many to take proactive steps for their health and the health of their loved ones.

A Canvas of Community

A notable moment of the evening was the collaborative painting activity, where participants contributed their brushstrokes to a large canvas from Oncology on Canvas that will soon be displayed in the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. The painting symbolizes the strength, unity, and resilience of our cancer community—and it now stands as a lasting visual representation of healing and hope.

Whether painting, meditating, or engaging in heartfelt conversations, everyone present was reminded that they are not alone in this journey.
