Position: Hematologist/Oncologist

Hunterdon Hematology Oncology (HHO) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Hematology/Oncology physician to join a highly successful community-based practice located in close proximity to New York City and Philadelphia.

We are in search of an experienced hematologist oncologist who will rise to our high standards of cancer care and groundbreaking research.

The ideal candidate for this highly respected role must be able to work in a collaborative environment, energetic, and invested in providing compassionate, personalized care. They also should be dedicated to continuing their education and working as early adopters of advances in therapies- this requires an understanding of the latest developments in diagnostic testing, and updates on multidisciplinary treatment approaches. HHO’s main office and infusion center are uniquely positioned within the comprehensive Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center (HRCC). The infusion center offers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and non-cancer related infusions as well. Our affiliation with HRCC allows us to provide patients with access to other specialists such as surgeons and radiation oncology, as well as supportive services such as physical therapy and genetic counseling. We truly can do it all, close to home.


Objectives of this Role

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to accurately assess patient needs and develop a treatment plan that meets those needs
  • Participate as a key member of the patient care team to formulate treatment plans and monitor patient progress
  • Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocols
  • Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of standard operating procedures and study-specific procedures
  • Evaluate and manage treatment of patients with hematological and oncological disorders
  • Discuss available treatment options for hematology and oncology diagnosis with patients and family members
  • Participate in relevant medical research studies

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests, which includes biopsy, imaging procedures, and blood tests, to confirm a specific diagnosis
  • Provide patients with detailed information regarding cancer, the prognosis of the disease, and possible interventions or treatment options they may choose to undergo while considerate and respectful of patient goals of care while considering and respecting patient preference
  • Maintain patients’ quality of life by managing cancer-related pain and other symptoms and side effects of treatment
  • Reassess treatment response and pursue alternative therapies as needed, as well as palliative care when appropriate
  • Participate in training sessions and correspondence for respective study protocols and clinical trials, ensuring confidentiality is maintained
  • Participate in shared call

Skills and Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology
  • New Jersey state medical license or ability to obtain
